  1. Hi ma'am,

I've been meaning to write and thank you for your endorsement to my LinkedIn profile. I hope all is well with you and your family. I was working at an algorithmic trading desk helping build quantitative trading strategies until recently -- I moved into an investment management firm 3 weeks ago, where I am now part of a group that invests in investment grade sovereign debt.

Thank you again for putting me on my path to economics ma'am, I was 04/MT/516 in your gender studies class, which was what sparked my interest in the subject, and you were always one of my favourite professors at Stella. I've come a long way since then, and if any of your students are ever interested in a career in quantitative finance or investment management, I would be more than glad to talk to them.

Wish you a great week ahead, and warm regards,

  3. Alumni Meet
On the 1st of December 2012, the Department Level Alumni meet was held. There was a short cultural program and a very good interactive session with the old students. The response was good and this allowed us to connect with the students of yesteryears. This was made possible through social networking sites where in students could be easily contacted. A posting on sites like Face book, twitter, LinkedIn really helped us to connect with the old students. The meet led the way for them to try and assist the department and many suggestions came up during the meet.
The meet began with a prayer song by the students and an introductory speech highlighting the purpose of such an endeavor to meet with old student so the department by Dr. Crystal David John, the head of the department of Economics. The main purpose is to build up a sustained relationship of sharing and pooling in of resources, both financial and physical. In the next meet it has been planned that we set up a unit of the alumnae of the Economics Department and elect a president, secretary and treasurer to enable a better functioning and dissemination of information. The old students were also addressed by Dr. Jasintha Quadras, Principal of the college and she too told them of the positive impact of such collaborations which would benefit the giver and the receiver. Dr. Sr. Helen Vincent delivered an animated speech addressing the students and recollecting old stories and incidents which was extremely interesting. There was a sharing of old students’ experiences and a cultural item to entertain the alumnae. Registration of all the old students who attended the meet was also done. Refreshments were served before the meet. Photographs were also taken during the meet.
The program during the meet was as follows:
